Making Lunch Fun, One Box at a Time

ben·tol·o·gy (ben t äləjē) Noun : The study of making nutritious and fun lunches for my daughters.

I get a lot of inspiration from other blogs. So, in hopes someone might get some inspiration from me, I've decided to post some pictures here.

My first Yubo Lunch!

I recently purchased a new bento box...The Yubo lunch system!  Many of my bento buddies have this box and I have been envious!    I was super excited to try it out!

  • 2 heart-shaped sandwiches with a small heart cut-out and a few "XOXO" sprinkles to add a little fun.   My bread wasn't quite big enough to get 2 full hearts out of it.  But, I thought it was pretty cool how they ended up going together like 2 connected hearts.  I love it when things work out like that!
  • Heart-shaped cantaloupe
  • Vanilla yogurt with a strawberry heart
  • Sugar snap peas with 2 cherry tomatoes that is supposed to look like a heart (use your imagination and squint a little)
I used the following products, or similar products, when creating this lunch:

  1. Ok, so one thing I wonder about often with this box.. Forgive me if it seems dumb, but you make everything just so, close it up and everything is then standing up, doesn't everything get all messed up then? Like your getting started states that u prefer boxes that lay flat.. I've debated over this box for quite some time now.. Any thoughts?

  2. Thanks for your questions...I had the same concerns with the Yubo. Each of the inside containers come with their own lid. That seemed to do the trick in keeping everything where it was supposed to be. Other than the strawberry sinking into the yogurt, my daughter said the lunch looked just like it was supposed to when she opened it at the lunch table. We really like this box!

  3. I appreciate you replying. Good to know... I guess I will bite the bullet and purchase one :) thanks again

  4. They are expensive. I waivered for a long time because I didn't want to spend that much money. has a few styles on sale in the $20 range, if you are interested. (

  5. Looks lovely. I wish I had something like that when my kids went to school. I bet they eat it all and it doesn't come home all mangled up.

  6. Lovely! Looks so festive and pretty!
